Head for the cure
Head for the Cure (HFTC), a 5K and Kids Fun Run benefiting brain cancer research, returned to the Houston area in September and raised $66,000.
Part of these funds will support the research of Alfred Yung, M.D., chair of Neuro-Oncology. More than 500 runners, walkers, volunteers and well-wishers came out, many signing MD Anderson’s Strike Through Cancer Wall near the finish line. Matt Anthony, a member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors, founded HFTC in honor of his brother, who died of brain cancer in 2003. Since then, HFTC has spread to 15 cities and raised more than $2 million for the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative and brain cancer research at MD Anderson.
