A million and more
Dallas/Fort Worth event meets legendary fundraising goal
Generous corporate sponsors and more than 1,000 guests helped the 24th annual A Conversation With a Living Legend®, Oct. 21 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, raise $1.2 million. The luncheon, which honored former President George W. Bush in an interview with MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors member Tom Johnson, supports MD Anderson’s Moon Shots Program.
President Bush received the Making Cancer History® Award, which recognizes people who demonstrate the institution’s core values of caring, integrity and discovery and make a difference in the lives of others.
Leo Corrigan III was event chair, with co-chair Deborah Gunter. Presenting sponsors Andrews Distributing and AT&T each contributed $100,000 to the event. Sponsors at the $50,000 level were MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors members Baxter Brinkmann and Lyda Hill.
Former A Conversation With a Living Legend® honorees in the audience included Nolan Ryan (1990), T. Boone Pickens (2008) and Laura Bush (2009).
