STARS Program
The School of Health Professions doesn’t only provide great education, it offers students the opportunity to get a head start on their careers.
Every year, SHP partners with various clinical areas across MD Anderson to give top-performing students the chance to join our workforce as part-time, benefits eligible employees.
Students accepted into the Student Talent Advancing Retention Success (STARS) Program get paid to gain experience working alongside experts in their respective field of study, and upon graduation, many are extended job offers so they enjoy a seamless transition to full-time employment at MD Anderson.
As part-time employees, students are eligible to receive MD Anderson’s health, dental and vision care plans, leadership development training, and once they hit six months of employment, they can apply for tuition reimbursement, too.
The STARS program is currently available through the following SHP programs:

- Cytogenetic Technology
- Histotechnology
- Mecial Laboratory Science
- Molecular Genetic Technology (Molecular Diagnostics)
