COVID-19: The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak and following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of State, State of Texas and City of Houston Administrations. Due to the unpredictable course of the coronavirus outbreak, the School of Health Professions may be compelled to offer some or all didactic courses in a hybrid-format, and make changes to the course offerings, including rescheduling of laboratory exercises, clinical laboratory rotations, and thesis research.

Classroom & Lab Food and Beverage Policy
Effective Spring 2014, students are allowed to bring water, but not food, into the second floor classrooms and study areas. No food or beverages are allowed in any other classroom or laboratory.
Student Health Insurance
All students are required to carry health insurance. Visit UT-Health for insurance information.

Academic Advising
Academic Advising is initiated through the program director or education coordinator and administered by the dean.
Counseling
MD Anderson's EAP
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at MD Anderson provides confidential assistance to all students of the SHP to resolve problems that affect their personal lives and performance on the job. The EAP offers professional assessment, guidance and referral services for personal counseling and legal issues in regular and emergency situations.
UT Counseling and WorkLife Services
SHP students also have access to the counseling component of the Employee Assistance Program at the (UTEAP). Limited services are also available for students' dependents.
Note: Academic counseling and advisement are separate services offered through the deans' offices of the School of Health Professions.
Financial Aid
Our program of scholarships, grants, loans and jobs assures qualified students the opportunity to study at MD Anderson regardless of financial circumstances. Students may also apply for Alternative Loans, which are designed by private lenders to help students and their parents bridge the gap between a student's financial aid award and the actual cost of education. Housing
University Housing is provided at a reasonable price and is a well-maintained quality living environment.

Human Resources issues new and replacement badges. Available on the MD Anderson intranet only.
Ombudsman Services
For an informal and confidential resolution to conflict or complaints.
The ombudsman function is an informal, flexible and consistent mechanism for dealing with issues. It facilitates early and open communication and encourages negotiation as a method of settlement.
Office of the Registrar
The follows commonly accepted practices in providing admission counseling, residency review, registration services, graduation check-out and transcript services.

Conveniently located across the street from the METRO Transit Center at the corner of Fannin and Pressler in the Texas Medical Center. The building offers five floors of parking (to be paid by the student and is just minutes away from bus and rail stops.
Research Trainee Programs
The department provides the following services for non-U.S. citizens at MD Anderson:
- Processing of non-immigrant and immigrant visa applications sponsored by the institution
- Processing and signing of immigration visa applications
- Coordination and administration of visa programs
- Maintenance of visa records
- Education related to visa processes and their requirements

Each student is assigned a locker through the Dean's office. Lockers are in various locations around the school.

Student Wellness
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP is available to students for personal counseling and legal assistance under regular and emergency situations.
Employee Wellness Department for Health & Well-Being
Available to students and managed by Human Resources, this department provides fitness programs, weight and wellness programs, individual coaching/counseling, sports programming and seasonal social events for all students. For more information, contact your Wellness Coach.
The student health and well-being wellness philosophy emphasizes the need for individuals to take responsibility for engaging in behaviors that develop optimal health. Our wellness activities are built from the National Wellness Institute's Six Dimensions of Wellness model.
