Educational Activities Leave
This personal leave may provide direct access to up to 8 hours each fiscal year to attend school-sponsored educational activities for your children using your Extended Illness Bank (EIB).1
Eligibility
All full-time and part-time (at least 50 percent) benefits eligible employees are eligible for EIB. This 8 hour period is pro-rated for part-time employees based on their full-time equivalency status (FTE.)
Process For Using
STEP 1: Employee requests leave for Educational Activities with reasonable advance notice.
STEP 2: Employee requests time off through the timekeeping system and follows their Departmental Time Off Procedures.
STEP 3: Manager approves time off request or communicates reasons for not approving it (e.g., scheduling conflicts, not eligible, etc.)
Rules
1. Educational activities include parent-teacher conferences; tutoring sessions; classroom, volunteer, athletic, music or theater programs; school committees; field trips; graduation ceremonies and academic competitions for the employee's children who are in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.2
2. A parent means a person standing in parental relation.3
