Overview
Biostatistical support for all institutional research projects is available through the Department of Biostatistics via the Biostatistics Resource Group (BRG) of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Biostatistical support includes:
- Advice on data requirements for data analysis
- Biostatistical requirements for grant applications
- Design of experiments, clinical trials and other clinical studies
- Clinical trial designs:
- Phase I designs to find the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) including BOIN, TITE-BOIN, BOIN-COMB, iBOIN, etc.
- Phase I/II designs to find the optimal biological dose (OBD) including U-BOIN, BOIN-12, BOIN-DC, etc.
- Phase II designs for initial efficacy evaluation including BOP2, TOP, 2-Arm BOP2, Basket designs, platform designs, platform designs, etc.
- Phase III designs for confirmative studies: Group-sequential designs
- Sample size and power calculation
- In-vitro and in-vivo designs:
- Standard experimental designs including single-arm, multi-arm, factorial designs, etc.
- Drug combination studies
- Sample size and power calculation
- Clinical trial designs:
- Design and implementation of deep learning models for imaging and -omics data
- Long-term collaborative research efforts
- Standard and innovative analyses
- Biostatistical analysis:
- Univariate analysis: t-test, ANOVA, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Kruskal-Wallis test, etc.
- Multivariate analysis: MANOVA, principal component analysis, etc.
- Regression analysis: multiple regression, logistic regression, COX regression, generalized linear model, linear mixed effect model, etc.
- Bioinformatics analysis:
- Analysis for single-cell RNAseq data
- Analysis for microbiome data
- Spatial statistics
Getting Started
Internal users, learn more via the Inside MD Anderson intranet homepage by typing “Biostatistics” in the search bar. You also can find Biostatistics in the A-Z Storefronts directory on the Inside MD Anderson top ribbon. Once on the Biostatistics homepage, click on the Collaboration Request Form button, and then complete and submit the form to request services.
Impact
The Biostatistics Resource Group (BRG) collaborates with MD Anderson’s clinical, laboratory, prevention, and population scientist research communities in study design, data analysis, and reporting. BRG provides biostatistical consultation, education activities, and quantitative research resources. This work touches on the full scope of clinical trials, laboratory experiments, and translational studies, from planning and design to analysis, study conduct, quality assurance, and reproducibility. BRG members assist MD Anderson researchers on publications and grants. In addition, BRG members also serve on regulatory boards and provide services on novel statistical design, statistical reviews and reporting, database management, software development, and more.
