February 21, 2024: Congratulations to Yi Lu, Ph.D., associate member of ARTI Center, for receiving a CPRIT Individual Investigator Research Award titled "Deciphering Iron Redox Cycles in Ferroptosis-based Cancer Therapy." In this project, Dr. Lu’s team will use their recently developed novel iron imaging tools to understand iron redox cycles during ferroptosis in cancer cells and study its implications in ferroptosis-based cancer therapy.
September 18, 2023: Congratulations to Steven Lin, M.D., Ph.D. His administrative supplement under the ARTI Center titled “Metabolic Alterations Associated with Acquired Resistance to Ferroptosis in Esophageal Cancer” has been selected for funding by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). This supplement will provide funds for Steven and Dr. Spencer Rosario from Roswell Park to form a team and understand metabolic underpinnings of ferroptosis resistance in esophageal cancer.
September 8, 2023: Congratulations to Boyi Gan, Ph.D., who was selected as one of seven Lombardi 7 Blocks of Granite Champions awardees by the Rotary Club of Houston Lombardi Committee. This award recognizes seven Houstonians who were nominated by their peers and have made significant contributions to cancer research.
September 1, 2023: Two U54 Pilot Projects from ARTI Center were selected for funding. Project 1 titled “Characterizing metabolomic changes during acquired radioresistance in pancreatic cancer” aims to foster the collaboration between ARTI Center and Pancreatic Cancer ARTNet Center (PCAC) at Oklahoma University Stephenson Cancer Center. Project 2 titled “Metabolic targeting of platinum resistance in humanized models of head and neck cancer” aims to foster the collaboration among ARTI Center, Houston Center for Acquired Resistance Research (H-CARR), and Bay Area & Anderson Team Against Acquired Resistance - U54 Program (BAATAAR-UP).
