The Zanivan Laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms that regulate cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) functions in ovarian and breast cancer, with a particular focus on how CAFs control anti-tumor immunity and the role played by their metabolism. Our overarching goal is finding intervention strategies to target CAFs to combat cancer in patients effectively. The Zanivan Laboratory also develops innovative mass spectrometry (MS) proteomics approaches to study the tumor microenvironment and cell metabolism. Our overarching goal is to apply MS proteomics in patient samples to identify new mechanisms of CAF-immune cell interactions that can be therapeutically targeted and biomarkers to accelerate therapeutic decisions.
