Lab Members
Xiao Ni, M.D., Ph.D.
Principal Investigator
Dr. Xiao Ni earned her M.D. and Ph.D. in China, with research interests in T cell mediated skin diseases. Dr. Ni then completed her postdoctoral training in skin cancers, especially cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL), with Dr. Madeleine Duvic at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She was promoted to instructor in 2004, assistant professor in 2008, and associate professor in 2014. Dr. Ni has published multiple high impact papers as first, second or corresponding authors, in journals such as Nature Genetics, Clinical Cancer Research and Journal of Investigative Dermatology. Her research has been funded by the NIH, the institution, private foundations, industry and philanthropy.
Wei Han, M.S.
Senior Research Assistant
Wei received her master’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Georgetown University in 2012. She worked on the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus at University of Virginia from 2012-2014. From 2014 to 2021, she studied the roles of TET enzyme and 5hmC in hematologic diseases as a research associate at Texas A&M Health Science Center. She joined the Ni Laboratory in 2021. She is now mainly working on the project of characterization of cell subsets by image mass cytometry in CTCL.
Xiaoying Zhang, M.D.
Senior Research Assistant
Xiaoying received her M.D. from Beijing Medical University. She did her postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute, Johns Hopkins and Louisiana State University. Her research work focused on signal transduction of human T cells and RNA splicing of retroviruses. After she completed her computer programming training, she extended her research to gene expression analysis (microarrays) and protein abundance (proteomics). She joined the Ni Laboratory in 2024 and is helping to study new compounds to inhibit overactivated JAK/STAT signaling in CTCL.

Professor, Dermatology
Prior to retiring, Madeleine Duvic, M.D., was principal investigator of numerous clinical trials and translational research studies of T cell mediated diseases and malignancies, including T cell lymphomas, melanoma and skin cancer. Duvic operated the largest clinical program for mycosis fungoides in the world. Moreover, she had the largest mycosis fungoides patients’ specimen collection in the world. She served on medical and scientific boards of the National Alopecia Areata Foundation and Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation and was the principal investigator of the Alopecia Areata Registry. She was also director of the Research Fellowship Program within Dermatology.
