Franco DeMonte, M.D.

Lab Director

Franco DeMonte, M.D., is the vice-chairman of the Neurosurgery department at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and has been a member of the department since 1992. He also serves as the medical director of the Brain and Spine Center at MD Anderson and the director of the Microsurgical and Endoscopic Center for Clinical Applications (MECCA) Laboratory.

DeMonte has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Mary Beth Pawelek Chair in Neurosurgery, the University Cancer Foundation Faculty Achievement Award in Patient Care, as well as recognized as a U.S. Best Doctor and a Texas Super Doctor. He is the past president of the North American Skull Base Society and the past president of the Houston Neurological Society. DeMonte is also a member of the editorial board of several medical journals, and is a noted leader in the field of neurosurgery and head and neck surgery with particular expertise in the management of tumors of the skull base.
