Christopher Alvarez-Breckenridge, M.D., Ph.D.
Principal Investigator
Dr. Alvarez-Breckenridge is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center with expertise in spinal tumors, metastatic disease involving the brain and spine, and immunotherapy. He received his combined M.D./Ph.D at The Ohio State University, where his doctoral research focused on oncolytic viral therapy and the associated immunological response for the treatment of primary brain tumors. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, during which his research focused on markers of response to immune checkpoint blockade for brain metastases and leptomeningeal disease using next generation sequencing. He completed a Fellowship in Neurosurgical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and subsequently joined the faculty within the Neurosurgery Department. He currently provides care for patients with brain and spine tumors while developing an immuno-oncology focused translational research program for primary spinal tumors and metastatic disease of the brain and spine.
