Translational Science to Optimize Brain Function
Neurosurgery Events
The Neurosurgery department hosts several conferences and participates in a number of local events for the brain tumor community.
Neurosurgery Grand Rounds
In 2024, Neurosurgery began offering a monthly presentation series. Neurosurgery faculty share their work with residents, fellows, trainees, and other staff during our monthly Neurosurgery Grand Rounds meetings.

MD Anderson Skull Base Course
The MD Anderson Skull Base Course highlights multidisciplinary surgical approaches in skull base surgery. As part of the Skull Base Tumor Program and in partnership with the Head and Neck Surgery department, Neurosurgery organizes this course regularly. It includes lectures and hands-on time in the lab.
In November 2023, Neurosurgery welcomed two distinguished guests to the MD Anderson Skull Base Course: Marc Rosen, M.D. and James J. Evans, M.D. of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
At the Neurosurgery departments Grand Rounds, Evans delivered the Annual Lectureship in Skull Base Surgery. His presentation was entitled "Reconstruction Techniques in Endonasal Surgery."
Rosen delivered remarks at the Head and Neck Surgery department Grand Rounds. His presentation was entitled "Extended Endoscopic Cranial Base Surgery: The Jefferson Perspective."
The course was attended by MD Anderson faculty, staff and our neurosurgical oncology fellows and residents. We thank the speakers for joining us and helping to train the next generation of neurosurgeons!

Endovascular Surgical Neuro-Oncology
Neurosurgery at MD Anderson offers endovascular treatment for neuro-oncology patients. We provide tailored cerebrovascular care to cancer patients. We're also researching intra-artieral delivery of therapeutic agents to treat tumors of the nervous system.
In April, 2024, MD Anderson hosted the inaugural summit for the Society of Neuro-Interventional Surgery (SNIS).
