Passing the torch: A tradition of giving to MD Anderson
Former MD Anderson Cancer Center employee’s daughter inspired to help cancer patients
Turi Scheurich, age 7, from Houston, presented a check to MD Anderson in hopes of providing the most support for cancer patients. Her mother, Kaitlyn, is a former MD Anderson employee and actively works to inspire generosity in her twin girls in an effort to continue her family's philanthropic values through the next generation.
Turi and her twin, Amelie, set up a lemonade stand and Turi was able to donate $20 to support the work of Samir Hanash, M.D., Ph.D., professor, Clinical Cancer Prevention, and his efforts to develop blood-based screening and diagnostic tests for the early detection of breast cancer.
