MD Anderson remains a leader in the world of proton therapy. Our team continues to expand ways to use proton therapy to benefit patients. We treat many types of cancer with highly-focused radiation targeting cancerous tissue while sparing healthy tissue. As rapid technology chances in radiotherapy, the goal remains to reduce unnecessary radiation to healthy parts of the body.

Integrative Medicine Services
This MD Anderson program offers complementary therapies that may be used in concert with mainstream care to manage symptoms, relieve stress and enhance quality of life.
For those who want to learn more about complementary and integrative medicine, we publish a regular newsletter and offer an online audio and video library. The library includes introductions and talks about different therapies as well as, meditation sessions, music therapy sessions and practices.

Social Work
Patients and their family members can often find a cancer diagnosis to be a difficult and stressful time. The Department of Social work has licensed clinical social workers to help patients, their families, and friends cope with their diagnosis and assist them with the psychological or social barriers to their treatment.

Other MD Anderson Support Groups
The general patient support and caregiver support groups will be offered daily with different facilitators. Patients and caregivers are asked to RSVP ahead of time and include their name, MRN and group preference for attendance.

Insurance, Billing and Financial Support
MD Anderson's Patient Business Services teams and Financial Clearance Center work behind the scenes to help you understand the insurance and billing process so you can focus on your cancer treatment. Representatives are available 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Child Life
The team at the MD Anderson Proton Therapy Center has treated more than 800 children since it opened in 2006. Our dedicated team of experts understands that children are not just “little adults.” They require experts specifically trained in dealing with the unique emotional and medical needs of children.
That’s why at the Proton Therapy Center, we have a dedicated child life specialist on site to help patients and their families cope with cancer diagnosis and treatment.
