Run/Walk and Sprint for Sprouts Set for May 7

Event Raises Funds for Ovarian Cancer Research at MD Anderson

The 14th annual Sprint for Life 5K Run/Walk and Sprint for Sprouts Kids' Run, benefiting the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, will be held Saturday, May 7 in the Texas Medical Center.

The 5K Run/Walk begins at 7:30 a.m. with the Sprint for Sprouts non-competitive races for children 12 years and younger following at 9:15 a.m.

The starting line for all the races is on the campus of MD Anderson at Pressler St. near the intersection of Bertner Ave.

The event will include a post-race party with a presentation, awards and survivor recognition, music, food and beverages.

For those who want to support ovarian cancer research at MD Anderson but cannot participate in Sprint for Life, they can select "Sprinting in Spirit" when registering.  Sprinters in Spirit will receive a packet which includes a t-shirt, pin, shoelaces and a race number. Plus, their names will be posted on a special "Spirit Board" at the race.

On-line registration is available through May 4, though participants may register on Race Day.

Early registration fees are: $28 for the 5K Competitive Run; $25 for the 5K Non-Competitive Run/Walk and $15 for the Sprint for Sprouts. Disposable timing tags are available.
