The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has opened registration for the second annual Boot Walk to End Cancer®, Saturday, Nov. 11. Check-in will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the 1.2-mile walk at 1 p.m. The walk will begin and end on the MD Anderson campus in the Texas Medical Center.

Last year’s inaugural walk included more than 6,700 participants and raised more than $981,000. Proceeds support cancer research and patient care programs to advance MD Anderson’s mission to end cancer in Texas, the nation and the world.

Registration, at mdanderson.org/bootwalk, is free. Participants are encouraged to start a team and join in the festivities with chairs Dorothy and Malcolm Paterson, co-chairs Ashley and Lance Loeffler and honorary chairs Ann and Clarence Cazalot. Participants who raise at least $100 will earn a commemorative T-shirt.

“Last year’s walk was a wonderful opportunity for all of us who have been touched by cancer to come together and support MD Anderson’s mission to end this disease,” said Marshall E.Hicks, M.D., president ad interim. “The community response was beyond our dreams. We are grateful for our dedicated sponsors and volunteers who are working hard to raise vital funds and awareness of our efforts in Making Cancer History.”
