The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center will host free skin cancer screenings from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 at two of its Houston-area locations.

As part of the annual event sponsored by the Houston Dermatological Society, MD Anderson physicians and area dermatologists will provide free skin checks at:

MD Anderson in the Bay Area (Nassau Bay)
18100 St. Johns Drive, Suite 320
                 Free parking on site
                 More information:  713-834-6582

MD Anderson in the Texas Medical Center
Cancer Prevention Center on Floor 2 of the Duncan Building
                 1155 Pressler St.
Free parking in the Pressler St. garage between Fannin St. and Bertner Ave.
                 More information:  713-563-1665

Screenings are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis; appointments are not necessary.  Copies of the screening results will be given to each participant.  Should a participant need follow-up care, a list of local dermatologists will be provided.

The screening includes a full-body examination but patients are not required to undergo the complete exam. Regular screenings by a dermatologist are the best way to detect melanoma or other skin cancers early, when they are easiest to treat.
