MD Anderson Hosts Free Prostate Health Conference on Sept. 22

MD Anderson News Release 09/05/12

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is hosting its 5th annual Prostate Health Conference on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the South Campus Research Building, 7435 Fannin Street at Old Spanish Trail. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m.; the program starts at 9 a.m. Attendees will get experts’ insight on PSA screening and learn how to:

  • Minimize harm from prostate cancer treatment
  • Co-manage lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and prostate cancer
  • Make sense of current supplements and prostate cancer drugs — and find out about new drugs

“Recent controversy surrounding prostate screening guidelines has created some confusion for many men,” said John W. Davis, assistant professor in the Department of Urology at MD Anderson. “But by taking the time to learn about screening guidelines and treatment options, men can make more informed decisions about preventing and treating this disease.”

Davis and other men’s health experts from MD Anderson will answer questions submitted by attendees. “We hope to address some of the more common concerns men have about prostate health.”

A continental breakfast will be served beginning at 8 a.m.

Free self-parking is available at the South Campus Research Building.

Advance registration is required, as seating is limited. The registration deadline is Sept. 20. To register, call 713-792-8924 or email programcenter-gu@mdanderson.org.
