The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is hosting a free educational program “Breast Cancer: Family Matters,” on Wednesday, April 13 at the South Campus Research Building on 7435 Fannin Street at Old Spanish Trail.

Women with a family history of breast cancer are encouraged to attend. Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program and a Q&A session at 6 p.m., and small roundtable discussions with MD Anderson experts at 7 p.m.

Attendees will learn about recommended exams for women at high risk, who should get genetic testing, and how to reduce breast cancer risk.

“Women at high risk will have the opportunity to get their questions answered by MD Anderson experts,” said Banu Arun, M.D., a speaker at the event and co-director of MD Anderson’s Clinical Cancer Genetics Program.

 “We’ll address some of the more common concerns women have about their breast health during this session,” Arun said.

Advance registration is required as seating is limited. There are two ways to register – email at publiced@mdanderson.org or call 713-745-0549. Include the attendee’s name, address, email address and how many people will be attending.

Free parking is available. From Old Spanish Trail, turn at the event parking sign between Fannin and Bertner. Go straight, and the parking garage will be on your left. The event will be held in the building to your right.
