PCCSM Graduate Training Program
MD Anderson is recognized for both its translational research model, as well as its multidisciplinary approach to clinical care in oncology. The Graduate Research Training Experience by the Partnership for Careers in Cancer Science and Medicine (PCCSM) is a 12-week sponsored that enables students to take a deep dive into research and learn from some of the world's leading cancer experts. Sponsored by the Division of Education & Training, this program runs from March to May each year; it offers course credit based on the agreement between Howard University & MD Anderson and pays $7,600 before taxes.
Curriculum
Research
Twelve weeks of hands-on research in an ongoing project in the lab of a senior faculty member, e.g., basic/ translational research, health disparities, data analytics, cancer prevention.
Education
The trainees also attend lectures, engage in career conversations, network, and get guidance on how to improve their presentation skills.
Career guidance
In addition to outstanding lab mentoring, the students receive invaluable guidance on their career plans from a diverse group of faculty, who are professors and/or in leadership positions at MD Anderson.
Program Requirements
- The students work full-time, five days a week, Monday through Friday.
- Submit pre- and post-assessment, and a final report.
- Present findings as a poster or in lab sessions held at MD Anderson unit or departmental level.
- Respond to annual surveys to update us with the progress in their education and career.
