Observer Opportunities in Radiation Oncology
MD Anderson's Division of Radiation Oncology uses cutting-edge technology and advanced radiotherapy techniques to safely and effectively treat patients while reducing radiation treatment side effects. As part of MD Anderson's ongoing commitment to education, our institution welcomes clinicians and researchers employed at other academic and health care institutions to come watch and listen to our experts in action.
Observer appointments in Radiation Oncology are limited to 30 days and are by invitation-only during the months of November through April. Blackout dates are May through October.

Radiation Oncology
The Radiation Oncology Observer Program in the Division of Radiation Oncology offers shadowing opportunities to qualified medical professionals who want to learn about radiation oncology clinical care and practice at MD Anderson.
- Watch and listen as visiting observers in Radiation Oncology clinics
- Attend and learn in Radiation Oncology didactics, section-specific rounds/meetings and Division of Radiation Oncology Grand Rounds

Learning Objectives
Observers in Radiation Oncology will participate in RO clinic observations (watch and listen, "hands-in-pocket") and learning opportunities offered by the Division of Radiation Oncology (Planning Clinic, Physics Seminars, Division Grand Rounds, and section/site-specific meetings/rounds). The expected learning outcomes include to gain general and new knowledge about MD Anderson's clinical care in Radiation Oncology.
Additional Requirements
Incumbents must be invited by a Radiation Oncology faculty member who agrees to serve as the host/sponsor to the Observer/STEP Visitor.
Program Fees
All professional applicants are subject to pay an Education & Training administrative fee. Please refer to the main Observer Programs page for more information about the fees and the institution’s application process.
Department Fee for Observer: $1,000
Department Fee for STEP Visitor: $250
Please note that these fees are in addition to the institutional administrative fee charged to all professional applicants ($2000 for Observers and $500 for STEP Visitors.)
Application
Incumbents must be invited by a Radiation Oncology faculty member who agrees to serve as the host/sponsor to the Observer/STEP Visitor. If you have been invited by a faculty member, please contact the program administrator and complete the corresponding Observer Inquiry Form.
