Cancer Systems Imaging
The Cancer Systems Imaging Research Experience Observer Program in the department of Cancer Systems Imaging is accepting observers interested in the research environment, watch techniques, learning laboratory etiquette and equipment uses and how a researcher plans and executes experiments.

The observer will participate in all aspects of the laboratory. They will observe research experiments, attend laboratory group meetings and learn how data is taken from the experiment to presentation to publication.

Diagnostic Imaging
The Diagnostic Imaging Observer Program in the division of Diagnostic Imaging provides U.S.-based and international radiologists an opportunity to visit for the purpose of observing the daily clinical and non-clinical activities in each department. The program is offered for a period of 6 days up to 3 months. Observers will focus on the use of multi-modality imaging (ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET) in the management of cancer patients. In addition, the observer will be offered educational activities, which include in person and virtual didactic lectures, case management presentations and multidisciplinary disease management team conferences. Observer programs are available in the following services: Breast Imaging, Neuroradiology, Thoracic Imaging, Musculoskeletal Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. The program can be tailored to suit individual interests including specific modalities and specialties.

In addition to observing clinical areas, the observer can expect to attend educational activities. Every department listed in the description offers several didactic lectures virtually and some in person.

*Dates outside of these months will require justification for an exception by the Chair & Deputy Division Head of Education.

In certain circumstances fees may be modified by Program Chair/Deputy Division Head of Education. Program fees waived for Medical Students/Residents/Fellows.

Interventional Radiology
The Interventional Oncology & Radiology Observer Program in the department of Interventional Radiology is accepting observers interested in exposure to the practice of Interventional Oncology and Radiology at MD Anderson. Activities may include observation of outpatient clinics, inpatient consultation, procedures, post procedure inpatient care, and longitudinal outpatient care. The observer may see a wide variety of clinical problems and procedures including but not limited to venous disease/thrombosis/stenting, portal hypertension/TIPS, percutaneous ablation or lung, liver, soft tissue, kidney and bone, radioembolization, chemoembolization, lymphatic intervention, uterine fibroid treatments, Neuro IR procedures, carotid stenting, spinal augmentation, percutaneous fixation, Pulmonary embolism response team and PE thrombectomy procedures, percutaneous organ access and biopsy, and venous access. Observers coming for a research experience will spend time with our research faculty in the Dunn Lab, which is a full translation and animal research lab housed within the department of Interventional Radiology.
