Scholarships
Newly admitted and eligible students to the School of Health Professions (SHP) are offered a Pathway to Success scholarship of $500. Eligible returning students and newly admitted nonresident students may apply for competitive scholarships of at least $1,000. All scholarships are one-time awards distributed for the fall semester.
Eligibility
To receive a Pathway to Success or competitive scholarship, students must
- be a citizen of the United States, permanent resident of the United States, or an international student with scholarship eligible status, including F-1 or J-1.
- be accepted as a degree candidate into one of MD Anderson's School of Health Professions degree programs.
- be enrolled at least half-time each semester of the academic year.
- have no more than three (3) outstanding prerequisite courses by the first day of the Fall semester (Pathway to Success only).
- have a minimum GPA out of 4.0 accordingly
- Pathway to Success: admitted GPA of at least 2.5.
- Competitive returning students: cumulative SHP GPA of at least 3.0 in the previous Spring semester.
- Competitive new nonresidents: admitted GPA of at least 3.0.
- Submit all application documents by the due date as noted during Onboarding (for new students) or in a scholarship email (returning students).

- Two letters of recommendation

External Scholarships for SHP Students
MD Anderson Department of Pathology Diversity Scholarship
The scholarship provides financial assistance to students enrolled in Cytotechnology and Histotechnology bachelor’s programs who demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in health care. One student from each program will be awarded the scholarship, which covers Texas in-state tuition and fees for the upcoming academic year. While not automatically renewable, students can reapply for funding in subsequent years.
