Lymphoma/Myeloma Fellowship
The Lymphoma/Myeloma Fellowship Program is
designed to train fellows for careers in academic medicine and provide training in state-of-the-art clinical care and cutting edge clinical and basic science research. Our program accepts three to four fellows yearly.
Fellows participating in the Lymphoma/Myeloma Fellowship Program receive exceptional instruction in the clinical care of patients and become well-prepared to make substantial contributions to our field through leadership and clinical, basic science, and translational research. Upon completion of our program, our fellows will meet the eligibility requirements for the subspecialty certification requirements of the American Board of Medicine. Lymphoma/Myeloma fellows from MD Anderson Cancer Center have gone on to varied careers across the globe.
Letter from our Program Director
We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of the Lymphoma/Myeloma Fellowship Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. It is our privilege to introduce you to our unique Fellowship program, which stands at the forefront of cutting-edge therapeutic approaches, research, and education.
Our Fellowship program is designed for physicians with prior training in Hematology-Oncology who wish to become subspecialized and experts in the treatment of lymphoid and plasma cell disorders. Our program offers our Fellows the opportunity to deepen their clinical knowledge and skills, as well as carry out research and create new knowledge within this field. We take great pride in our commitment to providing comprehensive training. Our program is approved by the Texas Medical Board and offers a one-year curriculum, with the opportunity to extend to a second year, that integrates clinical care, research, and scholarly activities.
As a Fellow in our program, you will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, resources, and support services that are unparalleled. MD Anderson was one of the first NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States, and it has a full spectrum of cancer therapeutic services. Our clinics are disease-specific, and our research encompasses clinical trials, investigational new drug trials, translational research, and basic science research. Our care models are interdisciplinary. Our dedicated Clinical Faculty lead teams that include Advanced Practice Providers, Clinical Pharmacists, and Nursing Staff, with dedicated support as well from Dieticians, Physical Therapists, and many other healthcare personnel.
One of the hallmarks of our program is multidisciplinary cancer care. In addition to working with the Faculty of the Lymphoma/Myeloma Department, which is comprised of nationally and internationally recognized experts in unique subtypes of these disorders, Fellows also work alongside world-renowned experts in various other specialties. These include hematopathology, diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine, stem cell transplantation, radiation therapy, supportive and palliative care, pain management, and more. This collaborative environment fosters a rich learning experience and ensures that Fellows receive comprehensive clinical training across the spectrum of lymphoid and plasma cell disorders.
Lymphoma/Myeloma Fellows at MD Anderson benefit from exposure to a diverse patient population treated at our institution each year, including approximately 68,284 patients with lymphomas and with plasma cell malignancies. Fellows are actively involved in every aspect of patient care under the guidance of experienced faculty preceptors. The scope of this experience extends from diagnosis to management of these diseases with the latest advances in their treatment. In addition to standard-of-care chemo-immunotherapy regimens, other treatment strategies include monoclonal, bispecific, tri-specific, and investigational antibody therapies, conjugated antibody recombinant T-cell and NK-cell therapies, targeted small molecules, as well as supportive care regimens to manage the toxicities associated with these novel therapies.
In addition to clinical training, our program places a strong emphasis on research and scholarly activities. Fellows pursue cutting-edge research projects under the mentorship of faculty members who are leaders in their respective fields. Fellows are to conduct and publish at least one research project during Fellowship and present their research at national or international meetings within the discipline of hematologic malignancies. Our Fellows are encouraged to explore their interests and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of lymphoid and plasma cell disorders.
We invite you to examine all that our Lymphoma/Myeloma Fellowship Program has to offer and to consider joining our dynamic and passionate team of clinicians, researchers, and educators. We are committed to providing you with training and support to help you achieve your aspirations and make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients with lymphoid and plasma cell malignancies and their families. MD Anderson offers a comprehensive and collaborative environment where Fellows can thrive and grow both personally and professionally.
Thank you for considering the Lymphoma/Myeloma Fellowship Program at MD Anderson. We look forward to welcoming you to our community.

MD Anderson Cancer Center is committed to encouraging good health and staying true to our mission to end cancer. If you are applying for a GME fellowship or residency program starting on or after July 1, 2016, please be advised that MD Anderson will have instituted a tobacco-free hiring process as part of its efforts to achieve these goals. If you are offered an appointment, you will be subject to a Pre-Employment Drug Screen for tobacco compounds in compliance with applicable state laws. If you do not pass the urine drug screening which includes testing for tobacco compounds, you CANNOT be appointed at MD Anderson. Should you fail to meet this contingency, MD Anderson will withdraw your offer of appointment for the academic year. You may reapply for the following academic year, but there are no guarantees that you will be offered a position as many of our programs are already filled for several years out.
