Anesthesia Technology Fast Track Program
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Anesthesia Technology Fast Track Program is a continuing education program designed specifically for experienced anesthesia technicians who want to advance their career by becoming certified anesthesia technologists.
The American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians' (ASATT) Practical Experience Pathway initiative offers a credentialing process for non-certified anesthesia technicians who have at least five years of working experience, a valid Advanced
Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) credential and have met specific educational requirements.
Our program provides all the professional continuing education units (CEUs) required for eligibility to take the national certification exam.
About the program
Goals and Objectives
The Anesthesia Technology Fast Track Program develops and educates current anesthesia technicians and support assistants so they can qualify for the national certification exam. It is intended to provide anesthesia technicians with the tools required to enhance patient safety and best practices, thus elevating the national benchmark for care in this field.
Note: This program is not under the purview of CoA-ATE or CAAHEP and does not require approval from CAAHEP, as it does not confer a degree.
Similarly, completion of the program does not confer Cer.A.T.T. designation; rather, this program awards Continuing Education Units as designated by ASATT to qualify for the Cer. A.T.T. exam.
The program does not guarantee participants will pass the ASATT NCE, but does certify that the curriculum follows the published guidelines set out by ASATT.
Structure and Curriculum
This instructor-led program offers a solid foundation of Anesthesia Technologists to support anesthesia providers and enhance the quality of patient care at our institution and all health care facilities.
The program’s 10-week course format is fully online and asynchronous. The 40 CEU program is is tailored to the working professional and requires
approximately 4 hours of investment each week to complete. Our program culminates with a full practice exam and full access to all curricula for
review before testing.
Learners who have their ACLS credential, complete this program and finish the Advancement Program Application as outlined by ASATT are eligible to sit for the Cer. A.T.T. Exam.
Required Textbooks:
- The anesthesia technologist's manual (2nd ed.). Wolters Kluwer Health.
- Morgan & Mikhail's clinical anesthesiology (7th ed.). McGraw Hill.
