Appointment Information
Richard E. Champlin, M.D., is chairman of the nation’s largest stem cell transplant and cellular therapy program. His goal is to improve the safety and effectiveness of stem cell transplantation (SCT) and cellular therapy for treatment of cancer.
I've been performing stem cell transplants for 30 years. We've saved many lives, but sadly only a minority of patients with these diseases have been able to receive a transplant. We have the potential to dramatically improve the treatment of cancer.
It excites me that we're making major progress and can see the results of our work producing improved disease-free survival in our patients.
The program stands out because it allows us to think big and go for cures.
I'm the co-leader of the B-Cell Lymphoma Moon Shot™. I'm also a flagship project leader for the Myelodysplastic Syndromes and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (MDS and AML) Moon Shot™.
I hope to improve the rate of cure in lymphoma, MDS and AML.
We've seen improvement every year with advances in research. We're on the brink of major advances that will change the international standards of care.
