Hagop Kantarjian, M.D., is the Chair of the Leukemia department at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He started his professional career at MD Anderson as a fellow in 1981. In 1983, he became a faculty member and has continued to dedicate his career to leukemia research and discoveries.
Leukemia research is one of the most exciting endeavors that one could aspire to do as a career. Over the past three decades leukemia care and prognosis has improved tremendously. This is what makes coming to MD Anderson and conducting leukemia research so exciting.
The opportunity of innovation.
I hope that we can cure most, if not all, leukemias within our
professional lifetime.
My focus is to develop programs and strategies that can potentially improve the cure rates across leukemias. The two leukemia Moon Shot™ teams focus on research in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
