Salivary Gland Cancer Symptoms
Salivary gland cancer symptoms can vary from person to person depending on where the tumor has formed. Its symptoms appear in the head and neck area, so they can be easy to spot. As a result, the disease is often diagnosed in its early stages.
The symptoms of salivary gland cancer include:
- A lump in the ear, cheek, jaw, lip, neck or mouth. This is the most common symptom of salivary gland cancer. The lump is usually painless. However, it can cause pain as the cancer grows and pushes into the surrounding areas.
- Trouble swallowing
- Trouble opening the mouth widely
- Weakness on one side of the face. The weak area can become worse over time.
- Pain or numbness in the face that does not go away
- Swelling of the face or neck, which can lead to an asymmetric appearance
Most patients with these symptoms do not have salivary gland cancer. However, it is important to discuss any signs or symptoms with your doctor, since they may signal other health problems.
