Diagnostic Laboratory Centers

Getting blood drawn before an appointment may help avoid delays during clinic visits. MD Anderson patients can get their lab work done the day before their scheduled visit at any of our Diagnostic Laboratory Center locations throughout the Houston area. The shortest wait times are generally afternoons and weekends.

Texas Medical Center Diagnostic Laboratory Centers

The labs in the Texas Medical Center do not accept appointments. Blood draws at these locations are performed on a first come, first served basis.

Houston-area Diagnostic Laboratory Centers

Appointments are strongly recommended for blood draws performed outside the Texas Medical Center, at our Houston-area Diagnostic Laboratory Centers. To schedule, call your preferred lab directly.

Pediatric patients can have their blood drawn at these locations only by venipuncture (i.e., a needle). Children who need blood taken from a CVC line (central venous catheter) must go the Robin Bush Child and Adolescent Clinic in the main building, floor seven near elevator C. Parents should ask their care team if their child can have blood drawn at a Houston-area Diagnostic Laboratory Center.
