Foster Parent Leave
This is personal leave provided for employees to attend meetings held by the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services or to attend an Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meeting held by a school about an employee's foster child.1
Eligibility
All employees regardless of status or classification, including educational appointees, students and trainees, who are foster parents to a child under the conservatorship of the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services are eligible for Foster Parent Leave.
Process For Using
STEP 1: Employee requests Foster Parent Leave with reasonable advance notice.
STEP 2: Employee requests time off through the timekeeping system and following their Departmental Time Off Procedures.
STEP 3: Manager approves time off request as appropriate or communicates reasons for not approving a request (e.g., scheduling conflicts, not eligible, etc.)
STEP 4: Manager and employee work to ensure necessary coverage is in place for the employee’s absence.
