Job Title: Assistant/Associate/Professor, Tenure/Tenure Track
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking multiple tenured/tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professors to direct cutting-edge basic, translational, clinical, population, or data science research programs.
As the nation’s leading cancer center, MD Anderson is home to many of the top cancer researchers in diverse fields. The institution has established infrastructure and programs that fuel innovation and breakthroughs in support of its mission to eliminate cancer. Researchers at MD Anderson are empowered to conduct cross-disciplinary, collaborative science to accelerate discovery, including implementing speculative approaches that might yield radical innovation. The institution invested more than $900 million in research last year, and it has made significant investments for the future, including a new state-of-the-art research facility in the TMC3 life-sciences complex.
Successful candidates are expected to establish an independent, extramurally funded research program that complements existing research strengths at MD Anderson, in the themes listed below. Research should emphasize mechanistic studies and novel computational methods with relevance to multiple cancer types. Competitive applications will describe a clear line of sight for their program to broaden multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations intended to improve cancer care and outcomes.
Interested basic and translational science applicants should hold a PhD, MD or MD/PhD and have at least two years of postdoctoral training with an exceptional publication record. For applications in research domains such as data science and modeling, data visualization, or dissemination and implementation science, relevant and impactful experience will be prioritized over traditional length-of-training requirements.
MD Anderson provides generous research laboratory space and startup packages, and eligible candidates will be encouraged to seek additional recruitment awards from the Cancer Research and Prevention Institute of Texas (CPRIT). Faculty can participate in and recruit from the outstanding training and mentoring programs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology

Job Title: Assistant Professor, Research Faculty Appointment (RFA)
The Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology is seeking an Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment (RFA) as our research efforts expand. The Assistant Professor, RFA will plan, coordinate, design and execute technical research experiments and design research projects as described by the Principal Investigator. Will participate in collaborations involving investigators at all levels within the institution and those at other institutions. Scientific contributions must impact cancer research efforts throughout the institution. In addition, this individual must prepare manuscripts for publication as well as travel to national and international meetings to present information about these studies. Must have ability and willingness to observe and comply with all institutional rules that follow OSHA regulations. Refer to the Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology department web page for additional information about the department and its programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate level degree in a field appropriate for faculty role

Job Title: Instructor, Research Faculty Appointment
The division of Radiation Oncology is seeking final-year residents or fellows who may be interested in a career as a physician-scientist or clinical investigator to join the Advanced Scholar Program.
The goal of the Advanced Scholar Program is to provide academically minded physicians dedicated protected time to concentrate their research efforts towards the ultimate goal of obtaining a faculty position with a clinical or translational research focus. The additional training offered through the program allows Advanced Scholars to concentrate efforts intensively in an area of investigation that may build on interests or studies they initiated during residency or fellowship. Additionally, Advanced Scholars will have a limited practice in the clinical setting to maintain clinical competencies.

Successful candidates are expected to:
- Perform high quality cancer research which transitions mentored projects into an independent research plan
- Devise a hypothesis with specific aims and appropriate assays to answer focused research questions within a limited time frame
- Develop and maintain standard procedures and protocols to ensure the quality and integrity of acquired data
- Exercise considerable initiative in planning and executing research with interpretation of end results
- Plan, coordinate, and a carry out research projects in a collaborative team environment
- Establish mentorship relationship(s) with faculty in a focused area of research
- Participate in laboratory or other research meetings to present findings and discuss next steps
- Produce first author manuscripts, present research findings at national or international conferences, and apply for grant funding
