The Ben Love/El Paso Corporation Melanoma and Skin Center is committed to helping you win the fight against all types of skin cancer. Our focus on finding cures as part of the Melanoma Moon Shot program already has led to promising new immunotherapy treatments like ipilimumab, which uses your body’s defense system to find and destroy melanoma cells.
At MD Anderson, innovative research combines with world-class expertise in diagnosing and treating skin cancers. Specialists use advanced diagnostic imaging and molecular medicine for accurate staging and treatment planning.
Your treatment plan may include the very latest therapies, and access to clinical trials of new drugs. We offer cancer vaccines and targeted therapies, many developed at MD Anderson. Our doctors are skilled in isolated limb perfusion, delivering chemotherapy drugs directly to localized melanomas with fewer side effects.
Our Mohs and Dermasurgery Unit uses precise surgical techniques to completely remove skin cancers, while leaving healthy tissue intact. Additional treatments include cryosurgery, UV light therapy and reconstructive surgery.
The Melanoma and Skin Center has a special clinic with doctors focused on treating cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL), a group of rare diseases that affect the skin.
We treat all types of skin cancers and related conditions, including:
- Basal cell skin cancer
- Cutaneous lymphoma
- Melanoma of the skin
- Rare forms of melanoma, including uveal melanoma and mucosal melanoma
- Merkel cell carcinoma
- Squamous cell skin cancer
- Pre-cancerous lesions and other skin conditions experienced by cancer patients
