Sprint for Life

The 28th Annual Sprint for Life 5K and Sprint for Sprouts Kids' Run will take place in the The Medical Center near MD Anderson campus on May 3, 2025.  Online registration will open soon.  Complimentary registration for the first 100 ovarian cancer survivors and one caregiver. Please contact the Sprint for Life office for more information at   gynonccommunityrelations@mdanderson.org.

Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers, according to the National Cancer Institute.  Unfortunately, because there is no screening or early detection test available and ovarian cancer symptoms are subtle, only about 20% of ovarian tumors are detected before they have progressed to an advanced stage.  On Race Day, survivors, their families and friends, businesses and MD Anderson employees come together to achieve two goals: raise funds for research and increase awareness of  ovarian cancer and its symptoms.

Sprint for Life supports ovarian cancer research and awarness

Hosted by the Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine department since 1998, Sprint for Life has raised more than $5.8 million for the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program.

On Race Day, survivors, their families and friends, businesses and MD Anderson employees come together to fundraise for ovarian cancer research while increasing awareness of the disease and its symptoms.

The goals of the program, named for two women who battled ovarian cancer, are to develop a new understanding of the causes of ovarian cancer, find new methods of detection and diagnosis and to create targeted therapies specific to each woman diagnosed.
